As a Birmingham child photographer, I have the honor & pleasure of getting to watch kids & families grow. Capturing those milestones for proud parents is one of the main reasons I became a photographer in the first place.
Sometimes I get clients who have a very creative idea for their family shoot. They have a theme, they have a vision and they want a photographer who will help execute that picture they have in their head. When this family reached out to me to book their son’s birthday session they wanted a train theme and of course I was all in!!!
Mom & I started bouncing ideas over late night text messages and quickly came up with a plan. But then again, we had a big problem. It’s actually very dangerous to photograph on train tracks and some of the local places like Henry Ford’s Greenfield Village charge an arm and a leg for photographers to bring their clients there. I was so happy when I remembered this little unknown treasure of a park in Shelby Township. I remembered that it has all the architectural aspects I needed, all the nature spots to get some candid family photographs and amazingly enough…. There was a train, an old non-functioning train!
They shoot went off without a hitch!!! It was fun, playful and we got a fantastic mix of posed & candid photographs. The little guy had so much fun and of course, everyone went home happy including this photographer because like I said… I have the honor & pleasure of being a family photographer.
