It was a vibrant multi-day Indian wedding celebration in Michigan for Miren and Manisha. Seriously, this wedding had it all and then some! Their friends and family really showed up and showed out for every single one of their wedding day events. And it all kicked off with the Garba which set the tone for a joyfull, heartfelt ceremony.
Garba is a dance that honors, worships, and celebrates the feminine form of divinity. I’m here for that. The word “garba” comes from the Sanskrit word garbha, meaning “womb.” Traditionally, the dance is performed by women in a circle around a clay lantern with a light inside, called a garbha deep (“womb lamp”). What I LOVED about this is the different age groups of women. There were the OG ladies that showed you how it’s done, the Tik Tok ladies adding some turns and end everything in between. It was a sight to see and so infectious.
The garba set the tone for what came the following day. But First, everyone puts on somethings beautiful. Manisha had the most beautiful , feminine veil and bridal gown I’ve ever seen.
And yes, the groom looked great too.
Then, it was time for the Baraat when the groom rolled up in a beautiful Corvette. And we’re not talking about your standard run-of-the-mill Corvette. This thing was fully loaded! It was the perfect way for him to arrive on the scene. During the Baraat there were dances, performances, and drummers. The energy was sky-high and we were excited to see what the evening would bring for Miren and Manisha’s Sangeet!
The energy, dancing, and celebratory mood didn’t end with the Baraat. There werre many ceremonies to come. A beautiful Mandap, adorned with heaps of florals, backlighting, and drapery served as the altar for Miren & Manisha to be wed.
Then, it was time to get the party started. With Miren and Manisha’s outit change, they were dressed to kill for the evening. We could not wait to see what Miren And Manisha’s wedding reception had in store. Getting to see the dynamic of their guests celebrate was electric. There were hilarious speeches for the bride and groom. An amazing, mouth-watering, selection of vegetarian food, and our glam photo booth to make sure that Miran and Manisha’s guests had a memorable time.
Indian weddings in Michigan are filled with so many joyfull, deep, meaningful moments. As photographers, we honor every one of those moments with a cool head and a big heart.
