Last night I was honored to have been chosen as the Photographer to capture an event that sits right up next to my values. I photographed the Kevin E. Kennedy memorial Fellowship Gala, known as Gayla. It’s an annual banquet for University of Michigan’s Law school’s LGBTQ+ 🏳️🌈 student group hosted by the Michigan Law Outlaws. It was a night to reflect on all the people that have fought so hard for equality in this community. It was a night to honor and celebrate extraordinary people working so fearlessly for equality. It was a time to celebrate one amazing human with a public interest fellowship award.

The event was sold out and the house was packed with beautiful humans , inside and out. To say it was fun is an understatement.

AG Dana Nessel was there and all I can say about that is that she is as amazing and (ahem) as bad ass as I thought she’d be. I don’t know how anyone would be able to watch her speak without clapping and “woo hooing”, but I was speechless.

The whole event was put on by the oh so cool and professional Michigan Law Outlaws. They worked hard to pull a flawless and powerful event and this photographer left the Michigan League feeling better about the world I was walking out into because I have no doubt that the talent in that room will leave this world much better than they found it.
