She Rises

March 23, 2019

If I sit down and think about it, I am blown away at everything that women can actually tackle.  I am surrounded by kick ass females all day , every day.  They handle stereotypes & challenges in a way that leaves me in awe and quite frankly, feeling like I need to step it up a bit.  I know quite a few ladies that have created something powerful out of nothing just by giving it their all.  Between creating products, schools, fundraising and making other little human beings I’m not sure where this world would be without them.   The spirit of a female is something to be recognized and this event brought together some amazing ladies.

They all came together to hear Lisa from Sister Pie talk about the series of events that led her to put her efforts where her soul is by opening a truly unique bakery in Detroit’s West Village.  If you don’t know what or who I’m talking about , then do yourself a favor and check out her website ( ).  Actually….. Forget that, just stop reading this blog, get in your car or on your bike and immediately head to Detroit for some sister pie goodness.  Please trust me when I say that your mouth will thank me… You’re welcome.

Kristen from ‘The Simple Kitchen’ in Plymouth provided a lovely space and made some delicious treats from the book. I’m still craving the delicious rosemary biscuits she made. Kristen hates when I take pictures of her so I snuck one in and promised to blur her out…. Kristen is lovely and hardworking as they come so I try to get her in the shot every chance I get.

The whole room was filled by powerful ladies who aren’t just following their passions, they’re carving out a path that’s their very own. It’s impressive to think about all the women who don’t just talk about what they want to do, they find inspiration and blaze a trail with that fire. Bravo ladies! Keep on keeping on.
