I love being a photographer during the winter months. It gives me a chance to re-coup after the holiday photography marathon. It’s a great time to get caught up on classes, gear & reflect on the past while thinking about where I want to go next. This winter however, I could not wait for the peony gardens in Ann Arbor to burst into blooms. I had photographed a few families there last year but I knew I had to bring more of my clients there.
The Arboretum in Ann Arbor has become one of my favorite places in the METRO DETROIT MICHIGAN area. My favorite thing about it is that it’s in the middle of a busy city but you’d never suspect it from the outside or know it standing on the inside. Standing in the middle of The Arb protects you from the buzz of the city, the hospital , the school.. life. It’s visually captivating too, filled with shady places and peaks of whimsy light. To me, it’s the back drop of a deeply romantic story.
Once a year there’s thousands of peonies that bloom all at the same time, a sign that summer is close and that vibrant color is back to revive the winters dormant landscape. I had the pleasure of bringing so many of my clients here this year to get them photographs among the peony fields.
The place was FILLED with people coming to see what mother nature had done. It’s only around for 2 weeks so when it blooms, people show up to witness.
Vandana from https://midflorals.com/ made some tasteful, fresh flower crowns for us to use because, when in Rome. She created these 3 pretty flower crowns in different sizes and my clients were so excited to put them on. She tied them all up with pretty ribbon and made them super comfortable to wear. The quality was GREAT! I could take them off and on people without worrying about flowers falling off. Anyways, if you need quality flower arrangements, she’s your girl.
Needless to say that it was all a whirlwind but oh so fun, even when the rain came. Everyone came with their best vibes and we got some truly magical images. The kind you look at 5, 10, 15 ,35 years from now with a loving smile and a full heart. I can’t wait to do it again!
